International Conference: “New challenges for tourism in a post-COVID world”

June 1st -3rd, 2021 - Tahiti, French Polynesia

jointly organized by

the Center of Studies on Tourism in Oceania and the Pacific (CETOP),

the Governance and Insular Development research center (GDI, EA 4240),

at the University of French Polynesia (UPF)

 

This academic conference is planned during “tourism week” at UPF which will also feature an AIMTD (International Association of Sustainable Tourism Management) workshop, and PECC conference. The aim of this multi-disciplinary conference is to present new research in tourism post-COVID, notably to understand the consequences of the pandemic and the economic crisis for the tourism industry in the short and long term. Applied or theoretical papers in tourism based on rigorous techniques of analysis are welcomed. The selection process will be based on scientific quality. Papers related to the following fields will be particularly appreciated:

- Destination management and tourism policy evaluation

- Economic and social impacts of tourism

- Tourism competitiveness

- Changes in tourism demand

- Innovations in tourism supply and supply chains

- Tourism forecasting and recovery

 

Deadlines:

January 15, 2021: Deadline for submission of full papers or extended abstract

January 30, 2021: Deadline for acceptance/rejection notice

April 30, 2021: Deadline for registration and payment of registration fees

June 1-3, 2021: Conference in Punaauia, Tahiti (French Polynesia)

Flights to the international Airport of Tahiti Faa’a will be available from Honolulu, Los Angeles, and San Francisco (USA), Paris (France), Auckland (New Zealand), Santiago (Chili), Tokyo-Narita (Japan).

Transfers to other accommodations are available from the international Tahiti airport (http://www.tahiti-aeroport.pf/). Rates: 3 000 F.CFP (25€ or approximately 30 US$).

 

Preliminary Program:

Tuesday, June 1st: Welcome comments followed by the first keynote addresses and 2 sessions, cocktail.

Wednesday, June 2nd; Second keynote speech, 4 sessions.

Thursday, June 3rd: Third keynote speech and 2 sessions. Social event and Gala dinner.

Publication: Selected papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication as ‘Special Focus’ in an acadeic journal (forthcoming).

Registration fees: The fees include a welcome reception, registration for all conferences during “tourism week” at UPF), coffee breaks, lunch and official dinner.

Standard fees: 250 Euros

Submission guideline: Authors are requested to submit an electronic copy of their manuscript (full paper or extended abstract) in PDF format by January 15, 2021 to sylvain.petit@upf.pf
